Acrylic on canvas. This is only half of a larger painting, the other half now gesso'd over ready to be redone.
I can't take photographs.
So yeah, self-portrait. Not sure what the width would be for this half (which is really a little under half of the canvas), but it's 24" in height.
There's like 3 layers of paint, two layers of gesso, and then another 3-5 layers of paint in the flesh areas.
Only used Light Cadmium Red, Light Cadmium Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine, and Titanium White. Everything is mixed from some percentage of those colors.
Yep. I like to think I'm good at profiles. Now that I've had some real experience with painting, I may dabble with it from time to time. I refuse to belief you're bad at painting unless you can dig up proof. So for now, I'll believe that you're really good.

I really admire the dramatic shading effect you've got going on in this picture, especially when contrasted with the heated background. There's a sense of calmness radiating off of you in comparison to the movement the background is causing, and I think that's a pretty awesome depiction of yourself. :3
Great job~ I'd love to see more paintings by you! ;D
Thanks. And it's pretty spot on feature-wise (color-wise, I like taking liberties).
There's this psychological theory or something that says portraits facing the left have a more internal searching/spiritual quality whereas portraits facing towards the right seem like the subject is looking upon the external/physical world. Or something like that.
I might post one more painting soon, and then I think by the time Spring Break ends I'll have a second.
Btw, did you friend me on Facebook? I keep meaning to ask you.
